The movie was very interesting and while it will take an eternity to pull through the sources to work out right and wrong (to some extent) I will enjoy a little 'competition' that seems to have broken out between me and Eddie. I enjoyed watching the film and -just for notes- I didn't know that Mr. Harris went to the Lourve. All pleasantries aside, let there be war Eddie.
I found the movie an interesting contradiction. Many people and a point even made in the movie is that religion is bad because it can be twisted and used for all purposes, including awful and inhumane acts justified by a "divine power". However they neglect to mention that plenty of crimes have been committed without any blame being placed on that divine power. Also the movie itself twists many of the basic facts of not only the Christian religion but of other religions, mainly of the ancient world, which incidentally most people don't know much about in order to know what is true, as well. Also I was very interested in the way the movie seemed to focus on crushing Christianity but didn't seem too concerned with other modern religions. I do not believe what it says about Christianity, and Eddie does an amazing job stating good factual research. As for that little cartoon about God being up in the clouds, needing money, loving us, and sending us to Hell; I see that as a bit of a twist as well. If a parent has a young child who does wrong and then punishes the child, that is considered normal and acceptable. Why then is it such a stretch to believe that God would need to punish us when we do wrong? Lack of discipline leads to spoiled children. Overall I enjoyed watching the movie and thought it was interesting and took it theoretically, to get us thinking. I took it as basically a challenge to Christians.
When I was watching this movie, it reminded me a lot about the time I was reading The DaVinci Code. After I had finished it I felt like I was the most enlightened person on Earth and that everything I read was completely factual when in fact a lot of the stuff was not true. But one thing I did believe was about how many people (Vatican, Roman Catholic Church, don't remember which one) took advantage of people's need for something/someone to put their faith in. I'm not saying that every church or every Christian does so but I am saying that its happened and is happening. Not only in Christianity either. I mean do you honestly believe that young Muslim kids (teens) would kill themselves without being fed stories, for lack of a better word, about how it'd be for 'God?' Religion has been perverted throughout history and I don't think it will stop until people take away the power they have given it (which wouldn't be a good thing either because religion brings more than just holy wars).
One other thing I learned is religious tolerance. I wouldn't consider myself a very religious person or a person who knows ABOUT religions. I, therefore, do not consider myself worthy of criticizing other people's faith and even if I did know about religion I think it's more about understanding than it is about knowing. And with something as sensitive as religion, it is important to understand fully the impact it has on people before jumping in and criticizing it (which is why I would love to take a Religious Studies Course because I believe if people tried to understand each other a little bit more they would find they're more alike then they thought, although not the astrological sense if you know what I'm talking about). Well I hope your less disappointed with my answer than you were in class lol but that's all I have to say (I suck at conclusions :P sorry).
I think the film was a fascinating documentary that uses fictional story lines. It wasn't until about half way into the film, that their vision started to become clear. I think the point in the film is that it is possible, and perfectly acceptable, to create your own reality in any way you want by using positive thinking, or by using self-affirmation. Although the movie seemed to stretch the scientific "evidence" to match their viewpoint, a few enlightening points were made that will affect my own sense of self-awareness and how I interact and motivate people. The most basic concept the movie tried to convey was the idea that human thought and emotion are actually only a self-serving perception of some "true reality." In my opinion I believe that the film was effective and ineffective. I liked the fact that they went into deep detail on all the aspects they covered. The film was ineffective because it lacked real world, down to earth studies. Like changing the physical appearance of water? We all know thats highly doubtful. Saying that if you believe you can walk on water, it will happen. These are just a few examples of what made it a bit skeptical and its theories. Oh yeah then I also learned a lot of new stuff about the different religions and especially about christianity since i'm really not that aware much about it. Well that's how I felt about the movie, overall it was pretty interesting. :)
I really enjoyed the film, it really challenged my mind. The main point I noticed in the movie is that it is easy to be misunderstood. I actually had to watch the movie a second time to get a better understanding of the point they were trying to get across. I liked how the movie went into depth with the details, although I don't agree with everything that was said. Starting from the cartoon at the beginining, stating that God being up in the sky and Him loving us, and sending us to Hell when we break a commandment. This is a misunderstanding because when people do wrong, often times they are punished. The movie overall just talked about the myths of Christanity but what about all the other religions. This movie also tested human intelligence, not only on religion but on reality. There were alot of things I learned but yet how do I know that it is all true, and then again how do I know that it's not true? The movie had great points and it actually made you think. Overall I thought that the movie was very fascinating!!
I am not a religious person at ALL. So, i found the video to be interesting and very humorous. I honestly believe what was said in the video to be fact and I was glad to see that the message conveyed in the video paralleled my personal opinions. I've always thought of religion and participating in religious institutions as a handicap in our society. Slaves were converted to Christianity to pacify and "justify" the injustice that was being done to them by simply saying, "Be good now and you'll go to heaven later." Why waste time worshiping and praying to a god; putting your trust in his hands? Why not control your own fate, take actions, and don't wait for heaven; get yours here on Earth. Side Note: Some people may still rely on God or a god to get them through the tough days. Some people may see praying to a higher power as a way of relieving themselves of worry. Some people may even find happiness in the believing the idea that they were made for some divine purpose... Nothing is WRONG with that. That's just not me. -amberkatura.anderson ;)
I enjoyed Part 1 of this movie :) It really challenges people to take a closer look at their faith. Like Amber, I'm not a really religious person. I don't believe you have to go to church every Sunday to worship God. Some people think that just by going to church that they are sin free. Going to church 1 day out of the week isn't really paying your respects to God. I thought the beginning of Part 1, the part were the comedian was talking, was hilarious :) I also thought the part about to church needing money was funny. I can understand people paying the church in order to keep it going, but I think if you pray to God, and always keep him in your mind, that he will be happy, whether you give money to the church or not. I'm a science person, so I loved how they tied things in with the sun, and constellations. I don't believe everything in that movie was true, but I do believe they did a great job of making people look at religion from a different perspective. They kept showing how Christianity has been repeated throughout life, in many cultures, and I think the main message they were trying to convey was that Christianity isn't something special or unique. Overall I love Part 1, and I can't wait for Part 2 and 3!
I actually enjoyed the movie. It opened my mind to the reality of how religion truly can have both a negative or positive affect on an individual of practically any religious background. Throughout our lives, we have been taught the "golden rules' and other guild lines to live by without the viewpoints of different religious/cultural groups besides our own. Though everyone may have their own opinions such as there being a higher being that we must respect and love, to know the truth we must first look at the past to explain the present. Even if all the information given by the speaker wasn't 'true' much of the information that reflected the Christianity religion was very much similar to that of Egypt's Horace. Besides, I enjoy learning about mind boggling ideologies that mess with my mind and make me think outside of the box. We may never actually realize the difference between creative reality and creative fiction but it is up to us to choice whatever we would like to believe in.
In part one of Zeitgeist, I'm not exactly sure what the message of the video is, but after discussing it with a few of my classmates, we have concluded that the video basically conveyed that God doesn't exist. Also, that Jesus--if he existed--was just a copy-cat and a repeat of previous history. However, I am a Christian, and based on my belief and what I have been taught, I disagree with the video. I will acknowledge them in their ability to find evidence to support their statements, and how well they put the video together; it was very interesting. However, it did make me question and wonder about a few things. So, I sat down with my Dad and had a dicussion with him about the movie and the points they made. I told him after watching the video that I wasn't sure what to believe or what to think. He said that if a christian does not question their faith atleast once in their lifetime, then they have not fully understand the bible and God's purpose for them. I took this to mean I was doing something right. Although I did think the part about how there is a man up in the cloud watching over us, seeing our every move, giving us rules, condeming us to Hell if we broke the rules, but loves us, was very humorous, but I also thought that it was very disrespectful to christians like Me. In the video they made the point that the story of Jesus was just a repeat of other people's lives in history before him. Well, not meaning to be disrespectful to those hostorians, but how do they know what they are saying is true? How do they know that all of those people they compared to Jesus really lived? How does anyone know? Jesus was just as real as the people that they believed to be real. If he was just a copy-cat and nothing special, then why is there a basically a whole book written about him and his life? Why is there nothing that significant published about all those other people? Well, Jesus is real to me. I believe he lived on this earth, was born the son of God, started a ministry of teaching and miracles, died on the cross, and rose again 3 days later by the power of God. God put his son on this earth to serve a purpose, just like us. I believe we each were put on this earth for a reason, whether we know it or not, and will fulfill that purpose before we leave this world. The video then mentioned the zodiac circle, and how we live in the eon of pisces. They said that a new eon will start again in the year 2150 and things will start over. Well this part I agree with slightly because in the book of Revelation it talks about the rapture that will happen when Jesus comes backs to earth and takes those who believe with him to heaven. Then Satan will rein on earth for a 1000 years and then the world will basically begin again; start over completely. How wil this happen? I don't know. No one knows. I believe that God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and forever present. Therefore, only he knows!
Well the movie Zeitgeist it really made me think about all that i have been told in life. Living by god and so on. I am a christian but i still have questions and even though i get my answers from the bible the movie made wonder more like "Wow, it all fits so perfectly but can i believe it even though these things might be linked together is it true?" I'm not going to change my religion or anything i just have my doubts from time to time and questions here and there. However, i can honestly say that the first movie was able to give me more reasons and support on their theory than the bible could. show me proof that's all i ask. The 9/11. Watching the 9/11 film made me feel so many emotions that i had to take deep breaths just to calm down about it. it made me wanted to look deeper into the truth. That film also made me question our own government and its defenders. Are they really here to defend us or just to gain another level in whatever kind of latter they are scaling! So many things that the president (bush) and his followers told us. It all sounds like a bunch of nonsense! Not only that the president was jabbering about nothing and basically lying when he was being questioned. His face, answers, and attitude showed it. He had it written all over his face, which really ticked me off. Not only that you refuse to tell the people the truth and are willing to jeopardize soo many lives just to protect yourself. Its not fair nor is right. Many people have died because things the President felt that was necessary. Going into war for no reason and being there when the people thought they had a true leader. Its not right.Watching those people jump from a building. Listening to that man dying on the phone was the terrible experience. But it made me open my eyes to the fact that if we had all this evidence and the CIA refused to let the public know the truth, does this mean that are we the American people are in danger of being attacked by U.S? Are we truly safe and what else is the CIA LYING to us about. Dang it "I AM A HUMAN BEING AND I MATTER MY LIFE HAS MEANING." And you know what else I'M MAD!
Watching this video opened my eyes about the religions before Christianity. I feel kind of disappointed this movie put a lot of focus on Christians though and how Christianity has a lot of hypocrites as followers (the hypocrites being the ones who commit the most awful sins yet still think they can go every Sunday and claim themselves Christians). There are many religions who have followers commit crimes and use the name of God in order to receive money or get what they want. Even though I'm very embarrassed to say, there are a lot of sex scandals and money scandals in the Hindu world. I'm thankful I don't know any of these gurus personally, but I always a little skeptic of those who preach the word of God. We all human, therefore we are not perfect.
I also agree with Mallory and I find the little God cartoon with him in the sky a little too much. Those who are theistic believe God is out there and loves them, and would agree if they saw that cartoon that it was a little too much. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie though, in the aspect that it was meant to test our knowledge and what we thought we knew. Although I did not check the sources, I'm pretty sure they used many short cuts in order to twist the weak minds who watched this film. This film was created to spark attention. The main purpose of this film was not to inform the public of common misconceptions, but to prove a point.
9/11 was a sad day for not only those who died in the airplane, but for everyone across the world. It was a sad day for Muslims, because they had to see the reality of what their culture is producing. It's sad that most Americans can't see that Muslims are nice people, for the simple fact that those who are nice do not possess the courage to stand up against those who are terrorists. If the world could see just how peaceful these people are, they would be able to separate the "terrorists" from the Muslims. It's just a coincidence that we see Islamic extremists on the news, but the truth is, only 6% of terrorists are Muslims. So why do we only focus on the Muslim terrorists? The people who were hurt by 9/11 wanted to take revenge, and thanks to a politician who was only thinking of himself, we went to war with a country who wasn't even responsible for it.
It all goes back to religion. Religion is what sparks most of our debates and wars. Religion is what separates us as human beings on this Earth. We are very devoted to our beliefs, or lack of beliefs in some cases, and we will do anything to defend ourselves. Sometimes that even leads those who grow up in a country taken over by Russians, then Americans to want to hijack an airplane. And what do they base their reason on? Religion. Religion should be used wisely and kept separate from all our other affairs, but there are people like Swami Nithyananda use the name of God to get what they want in life. I think that problem will always exist.
@Scipio AKA Charles: I look forward to your posts!
@Mallory: You raise a good point about crimes committed without blaming the divine power. Just wait! More on that later! Why do you think the film makers sought to challenge Christians?
@Sonia: I agree that religion is often a tool used to take advantage of others and that it provides more than "Holy Wars." I appreciate your religious tolerance and the fact that you don't criticize things that you don't know about. Ignorant arguments are such a waste of time. I thought the distinction you made between "understanding" and "knowing" was well done!
@Neepa: Thanks for your post on "What the Bleep Do We Know?"I wish I had the full version to show your class. I also like how your response balanced open-mindedness with skepticism.
@Courtney: The fact that you took initiative to find this online and give it a second look really made your teacher happy! Why do you think the movie focused on Christianity for Part I? I also appreciate your comment "how do I know it is true and how do I know it is not true?" That is the heart of TOK.
@Amber: I share many of your opinions--that doesn't mean it is right :-). You appear to be tolerant of others beliefs. I think we share a common sentiment "you can believe in stones, if that is your choice...just don't throw them at me, because God told you to."
@Davina: I really appreciated your comment about different viewpoints! How do you know not everything in the movie was true? Like you, I also enjoy "learning about mind boggling ideologies that mess with my mind." Can you tell me more about the difference between creative reality and creative fiction?
@Sarah: What would it mean if God doesn't exist? I respect your faith and in no way meant it to be disrespectful of Christians. I also appreciate the fact that you took time to view the segment with your Dad after school!
@Deloris: "Show me proof, that is all I ask." How does that statement fit with the notion of faith? Regarding the segment about 9/11--there are many things about that event and the subsequent explanations that just doesn't sit right with me. Could this be an "Emotional" Way of Knowing? I also agree with the quote from the movie "Network."
@Bhanu: Why do you think the film maker focused on Christianity? What makes you "pretty sure they used many short-cuts in order to twist the weak the weak minds who watched this film?"
I am fortunate to have really wonderful students!! Upon re-reading my feedback and questions, I want you to know that I am NOT suggesting your post was inadequate or wrong, I just want to engage in a dialogue with you. :-)
When you read my questions to you, visualize (or hear) the way I would ask you that in class. :-)
I Think that this movie was very straightforward in its presentation of fact. However, I doubt that it will change anyone's mind. When most people see something controversial they ignore it, forget it, or come up with some reason as to why it cannot be true. People will always believe exactly what they choose to believe. Besides, no one wants to be the only atheist in the room. It is much more comfortable to wrap yourself in the "loving" womb of christianity where you are surrounded by millions of others. How could anything be false if millions believe it? i.e. The world is flat, The sun is a god, Reincarnation, etc. The movie made alot of interesting points, and I believe them to be true. Most will just say it is a lie and move on with their lives. Either way, it is impossible to prove that their is a god, but the argument is that their is no way to prove that their is not. I guess Santa Claus must be real too.
I found the first and second parts of the Zeitgeist very interesting. They reall showed me some information that I had not previously been aware of. The first part really intrested me on the basis of christianity. I have grown up and my life has been mainly centered around christianity and after seeing that video my thoughts were really scrambled. I was not sure what was true or what wasn't true. It really opened my eyes from a religious perspective. I never knew that there were so many facts that also tied in with the basic christian belief. I also never knew that there were other Gods that also had the same story as Jesus. When I first started watching the movie I thought to myself "oh, whatever it is just going to be some nonsense and they aren't going to know what they are talking about." But afterwards, my viewpoint was affected. I would really like to see a person of much faith, like a pastor, argue this because I really would like to know what their thought would be.
The second part of Zeitgeist also intrested me. I had once before heard about the conspiracy theory but it has never really been broken down to me in that manner. After seeing it, I'm really leaning towards the idea that it is true. The information that they presented would be very hard to argue with. Especially the arguement about the Pentagon. How can a plan just disappear like that and any tapes that could prove it were all confiscated by the FBI. That is very fishy. What are they trying to hide. If it was truely a plane then why don't they just release one of those videos so that everyone wouldn't be so skeptical. If the U.S. was really behind 911 then it would be a shame. How can you conspire against your on country and cause thousands of your citizens to lose their lives. If someday the world finds out that 911 was a conspiracy, I really hope that I am no longer around to witness it.
Now Part II of the Zeitgeist is what REALLY got me thinking... Honestly, I never really questioned what was reported on the news. I always thought they got the facts, and if there were something hidden, it would be put on the news lol. In the back of my mind, I may have had a small feeling of government conspiracy, but I would never have questioned the legitimacy of the 9/11 attacks! That was a tragic day in American history; I would assume that it would not have been set up by our own government. The information presented in the video (to me) was mind-blowing! I can't believe that there is a possibility that our government could have SET UP 9/11! That is crazy! It sounds crazy when you say it out loud, but I'm not completely disregarding the information shown on the video because that's just who I am... But it really makes me think! Btw: Mr. Harris, I really feel you on the stones thing lol. I always thought you were kind of smart (for a teacher lol). amberkatura.anderson;)
Zeitgeist part one wow!!! This movie was very interesting to me. It was basically saying that religion, especially christianty, is a myth or a lie used to trick people in to doing certain things. The movie brought about some good points. One was that many religions presume to have the same origin as christianity, making it seem as if Jesus is just a copy cat. The video really made me think and had my thoughts a little scrambled. But in the end I still have faith in my religion, because after all thats really all you can have. I do acknowledge the facts shown though. Also all the information that anyone knows about the past is based on their faith of others knowledge, because we get it from other people, so how are we to know that its 100% accurate. So how do we know that all the information presented is true??
Part 2: This part about 9/11 really had me thinking, and it also made me question our government. Once you look at all the facts of the whole situation, such as no evidence of a plane crashing, and how the buildings just collapsed and fell strait down in the matter of minutes, it really makes me think that it was an inside job. President Bush also made himself look very suspicious. This movie makes me fear our government a little, because if all of this is true and they can manipulate us into believeing 9/11 was a terrorist attack launched by Osama B. Laden or Alchida, they can manipulate us into thinking just about anything. Our mind controls our actions, so if the government can control our mind then they can control us.
The part of the film I found most interesting was part 2 that had to do with 9/11. It basically talked about how the two planes crashed into the twin towers in New York. I expected a factual explanation of what happened that morning. Instead I got a conspiracy theory of one sided arguments. I was sceptical at first, but as the movie went on I discovered there might be something to it after all. The makers of the film claim that U.S. government was responsible for the planes crashing into the twin towers. They claim that the falling of the twin towers wasn't due to the planes crashing into them, but that they were brought down along with building 7 by controlled demolition. I thought listening to all that was really interesting.
Part I This part really made me think because it took shots at my religion. This video was basically saying that religion were created to manipulate people. This opened my eyes to another point of view and i questioned alot of thing after seeing this. Part II WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW This was my favorite part. This basically revealed the secretness of our government. This was very enlighting because it made me question every disaster that the US has had. this part made me look at the way media twist the story rather than fall into the trap of percieving it as its presented.
Part 1 Well, this part of the video was interesting because I learned things I previously had no knowledge of. I wasn't very interested because over the years I have become less and less interested in going to church. The beginning of the video really caught my attention. I liked how it started with words and no pictures and then it went to a picture with words then pictures with no words. That was actually cool to me. As far as the "attacks on Christianity" goes in someways I felt obligated to believe what was said. Most times stories we hear come from other cultures we just take it and manipulate it into our own. However, I don't believe Christanity is the only faith so in some area I disagreed with what was said. I think the video basically was someones opinion and what they wanted us to believe. Most all, this video was interesting, although I didn't wanna watch it at first. I can't wait to see the second part however, because it touchs on a historical event that bothered me. ~Domi J~
Part II: I was more effected by part two of the movie than the prior part. Here there seems to be greater evidence, also honestly I am more prone to have doubts toward the government than God. The thought that the government could be so corrupt that they would be willing to kill their own citizens is worrying to say the least. I do believe that this is possible, but I don't want to believe it is true in this country. I do agree with what that man came on and said about how every life has value. Why should the government have any say over who is killed, put in harms way? Why wasn't the building where Congress meets attacked, or the white house? It seems to me that those who worked in any of the buildings that were attacked shouldn't be blamed. They certainly wouldn't have organized an attack on the very place in which they would be, put themselves in danger. Thus it would seem to me that the Pentagon wasn't in on the attack. Has our country really sunk into the realm of government control and domination that they don't care about killing innocent people simply to get legislation passed? What if these government people were faced with the victiums of these tragedies? What if they were in the rubble, in the medical stations? What if families who were torn apart by these events asked them to their faces, would they be able to look these people in the eyes if they had caused their hurt? Has our government become that hard hearted to the cries of the people? This greatly disturbed me. Government in this country was founded on greater principles than anything that would even allow for such thought. If they didn't have anything to do with the attacks, wouldn't they be appalled at being accused of these tragic events, wouldn't they do anything possible to prove the innocence of their part in them?
Part 1 zeitgeist the movie was very interesting to me. I also learned alot of information from just watching part 1 of the movie. THe movie kind of makes you question your religion(Christians)because part 1 of the zeitgeist movie mainly focused on Christianity.I wonder why they focused on crushing christianity what did they christians do to them :). Upon the fact that they focused on crushing christianity I learned alot about other religions as well and I really like how they related and connected the other religions back to christianity. I wonder if the information they gave was factual. But I also want to know why on some of the parts of the movie when they were relating the other religions to christianity why did they fast forward through some of the infomation. To me that seems very strange becauase it seems like they were trying to hide information from us.
Part 2 This part of the movie was very interesting to me. This part of the movie actually made me think. This part of the movie made me think because it was talking about 9/11 and how there were inside jobs and etc. By watching this part of the movie to me it seems like the government helped out the terrorists who flew their planes into the World Trade Centers. The movie stated that there were inside jobs I want to know why people in the CIA would want to kill/injure their own people. what inspired them to help the terrorists? Two strange parts of part 2 was the part about world trade center 7 and the plane crash in shanksville. I want to know how a building designed NOT to fall when planes crash into it just collapse on itself.I also want to know how the parts to a plane wreck just simply disappear and NO evidence was found. A part that really interested me was when Bush was talking about Saddam Hussien and he was suppose to be talking about Osama Bin Laden. That made me think that Bush was out to get Bin Laden ever since he put a hit out on Bush's father.
Part 1 of zeitgeist was very good. It really makes you think and re-examine your religious beliefs. A lot of what they were saying really coincides with the symbolism in the bible. Such as the 12 constellations and disciples and also Jesus and the sun. The fact that Jesus has a lot in common with the spiritual figures of other religions is very interesting. However it probably won't sway other people's mindset due to the lack of credible sources. I also enjoyed the comedic elements in the movie. The part about God always needing money and How he will send you to hell if you are bad, but he loves you was very funny.
Part 2 was even more interesting than part 1. I find the conspiracy theories to be very interesting. However it all makes perfect sense. All of the evidence points to government involvement. It is hard to believe that a plane took down the world trade center, a building that was designed to resist multiple plane crashes. Also the collapse of the building looked very similar to the explosions made by controlled demolition. It is clear that controlled demolition could have been used especially when looking at the footage of building seven going down. No plane ever touched it. Also the fact that there was no plane rubble at the crash sites seemed very suspicious. This movie causes you to not trust our government.
As i am not a very religious person most of the ideas in the video are thoughts i also wonder about. yes, i go to church every Sunday and all of that i just cant seem to relate all the time. Watching that video has only made me more skeptical and also it makes me question everything. The ideas about the sun makes perfect sense to me. I'm not saying that the video is 100% true but if it is then it would make sense and some of my unanswered questions will be answered. I believe that people don't necessarily need religion. if they just have good morals, believe in helping others up, and do something significant for which they could be remembered the world would be a much better place. i sometimes wonder what if religion was created just as a means for pastors, bishops, etc. to collect money for "God" (themselves) why would God possibly need this money??? The idea that there is some omnipotent omniscient being watching over the Earth is sometimes baffling to me!!! this video has further opened my open mind and provided me with some more info. on this topic.
Response to Part II:
Since i am not really into the government and politics i did not connect with part 2 as i did with part 1. However, i did find it quite..... INTERESTING. this also made perfect sense to me. This video makes me question the government. the same government. that i thought was out to protect me is instead trying to trick me just for their own benefit. One thing i found interesting was the planes being planned. In my opinion, the attack was designed so brilliantly that only someone on the inside had to be behind it. how could you do such a thing?? is it really that serious?? I now feel as though i have to double check the governments plans just to feel safe. This movie has cause me to feel a little iffy about the government.
I did not get the joy of watching Part One of Zeitgeist with the rest of my classmates and to see their reactions, but I took it upon myself to watch it on my own time. I went on Youtube and took a look at it because my classmates were telling me it was a "must see". Indeed it was. I for one am not a very religious person but the video still had me feeling a certain type of way. It just had my mind wondering and asking myself questions and demanding answers! Not saying that I think the video is telling the truth, but the video did make alot of sense, which is something that alot of people don't want to admit. The video did not change my religious preference either, but it just made me very skeptical. Wondering if these researchers are telling me the truth or are they just playing with my head? No one really knows the truth until the truth proves itself to be true. It really changed my outlook on religion also. What's one thing to us can be a completely different other thing to someone else, like most things in the World today. Once again, I am not saying that this video is true, but it puts alot of things together and makes one heck of a good presentation and agruement to me.
Part Two really "wowed" me. I am in the Army Reserves and for me to see that video really had me questioning the government. It is possible that all of this video is just a fib, but for you to take the 9/11 Theory, break it down to bits and explain it all with different facts and things in that nature, you really have to sit there and think about what you just saw. You have to analyze it and let it settle for a minute. If your government is willing to kill its own people for the love of money, what makes you think a certain somebody won't? People might think I'm taking it out of context, but you just have to think outside of the box. This video cannot be 100% proven until some high power of the government comes out and admits to staging 9/11. That's when we will know the truth.
Part 1 was the weakest and least evidential of the whole documentary. The stories in this documentary were taken from the Bible and were rewritten to the liking of doubters. Even if I were not a Christian this documentary would not have changed my opinion on religion in a positive or negative way. Evidence was the biggest factor for me because it seemed to be scarce in the video. There are many different religions besides Christianity, but it seemed as if the creator of the film possessed a close mind on the topic of religion. He may have the perception that many have, that America is a Christian nation. This is not true, we are a nation of diversity. We have the freedom of religion. So, Why am I a Christian? Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Part 2: After watching Part 2 of Zeitgest, I definitely know that someone in the government had some involvement with 9/11. Someone had explosives placed in the buildings because building 7 collapsed with hardly no damage. All the evidence points to the Bush Administration. They wanted to stop Sadam Husseins so bad and control oil located there. The biggest target was to become a huge power in the Middle East. The government is slowly taking the limited power away from citizens. I believe the government has been setting up disasters for years to gain military support.
After watching the third part of Zeitgeist one i really question everything around me and i try to think about all the "what if's" of life. Like what if all the things are truly distractions to avoid the fact that America's government true aim is to conquer the world itself. or what if all that zeitgeist was saying was something made to make people think something was going on but true aim was to turn the american people on its own country to cause a revolution where the people would be fighting against each other in a cluster of confusion. There are those who are hard to persuade, those who are truly easy to persuade, and those who take it to the extreme. If everyone in the U.S watched zeitgeist there would be some great debates but i think that some people will not think before they act. I think that this movie will cause alot more people to be more open minded to the possiblities and thats all that should happen but rarely does. People think but not about the other possiblities and when they don't think carefully then they act too soon which cause other people to suffer and then when other people suffer it will cause more and more people to suffer until world is in total chaos. My point for saying this is that this is the reason why i think zeitgeist was made it was made to challenge the mind and to see how you would see the world. And i can truly say that before i saw this movie i never thought about any of this but now i think more about what people motives are and what their goals are as well. This movie was created for those who are true thinkers who can pass out the idea and the teaching of what true thinking really is.
The thing that i realized, that these movies are biased and one sided. so the information that is presented to you, is from one side, of many sides. Zeigeist 1: This part dealt with religion. All the information that was stated in the movie was just anothers opinion about a topic in the world. Some ideas were stated, maybe some facts, but there are always to sides to a story. I am a Christian, and i believe that jesus died for me, but that does not mean i am going to force my religion on you. you believe what you believe, vis versa. i am not here to judge or force someone to believe in anything.
Zeigeist 2: First i would like to state that when this event occured i was 6 years old, so i was not knowleagable of all the information. this dealt with 911. The things that were said about Bush could possibly be true, because i do not care for him, it was never my idea to put Bush in office(twice at that). If the FBI did lie about the fact that they did not see any warning signs, they should not have done that. When the FBI was caught taking the videos of 911 maybe the govt was smarter than i thought. By not publicizing the US's personal information to the media, other countries(terriost) can not see our business. I would also like to have more info about the molten metal because this could possibly be a case. At the end of the day, when something occurs, it is going to be questioned by someone. That does not mean it is true.
Zeigeist 3: One thing that i agreed with in the movie is when the man stated that instead of reading books and newspapers people watch tv, and that's where they get most of their information from. Also that the media can convince. The movie stated that Bush's grandad was trading with the enemy. Again with the Bushs' i do not trust any of them. I question that fact that WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam War were planned wars to destroy the peoples civil liberties i do not believe that is true. the government is corrupt--maybe so. To some, power does corrupt.
@JimHarris You asked me why I believe they focused on Christianity? Isn't it obvious? Thirty-three percent of the world is Christian, and the majority of the United States is Christian. When you can attack the majority with something as sensitive as a subject as religion, it makes people outraged and think. Before they can question the film, they immediately start being pulled by the movie and believing in its claims. Then there are those who will be repulsed by the movie because the movie attacked their religion. So instead of questioning its claims, the repulsed immediately shut the statements being made out of their mind. At last, there are the very few who will actually question the film and decide to research its claims like Eddie Massey III. We've been spoiled by the system, so the majority who watch the film (and also happen to be Christians :] ) won't even try to research and question the movie because they are simply too lazy. I applaud Eddie for doing actually taking his time to research the basis of this movie and his initiative for finding the purpose of this movie.
Now here's my opinion to Part II:
Part II targets 9/11 and introduces a theory that our government could be to blame for the 9/11 attack. My response: terrified. If the government has that type of power to be able to create such a commotion in order to pass a law, we as citizens of the United States of America have got a lot to worry about. But here's what I'm skeptical about:
1. Did the United States government really launch the attack? A. Even though the film provided "proof", I'm still skeptic about the fact that there are people out there cruel enough that they would do such a thing to the people in our country.
2. The government would not have allowed people like the makers of Zeitgeist to find out about something like this or even pose such a question. A. Our country was founded on the basis of the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness which later developed a democratic mindset. B. Even though the world possesses a lot of power thirsty people, could citizens of the United States, most of which are Christian, find themselves in a position to hurt thousands of their own people, maybe even their friends or family.
3. If this really occurred, then how come no one in the US government got punished?
Part II raises a lot of questions about a sensitive topic in our nation that occurred when we were just little kids. A nice way for the makers of Zeitgeist to hit us hard without raising any questions to those who were drawn in by the first part of the movie.
the first part of what the bleep do you know targeted religion. To say the least, it was very interesting. I seriously doubt all the information in the video was true though. There was only a couple of things I saw in the video that I believed to be factual information. The main one to me is how high power religious officials use their position to get over on people. I am a christian myself though certain things i won't do. If in the near future, I'm broke and I need to pay my mortgage or pay tithes, to be reasonable I would have to pay my mortgage if I want a place to live. Part one of the film had some interesting information but I don't believe all of it to be true.
After watching part two of the zeigeist series, it did seems as if 9/11 was a setup. There were many signs of an oncoming attack giving to the president but he ignore them. After the event happened, President George Bush didn't seem sincere at all about the situation. It is also weird how the government quickly hide video evidence on how the crash has happened. I don't think they plan on releasing the film anytime soon. The Bushes would be dead and gone before before the people would get a chance to figure out if there were guilty or not.
Part three of the zeigeist series covered how the government tries to distract our minds with everything except the truth. One man from the film said that the government uses the televison and other devices as a distraction. When watching your favorite program or playing your favorite game, you do not think about the tragic important issues. The man said even the news who are suspposed to tell us the truth, feeds us lies. The government maybe messed up but it is something we as the people should work on trying to fix.
"Those who do not believe know the Bible, and they know it very well." In reference to Part I of Zeitgeist, the information that was given invoked feelings upon me that made me feel "...a certain type of way.", as Marion had stated before. The feelings that I were feeling were feelings of inquiry and question, however, doubt never crossed my mind. Inherently, the video had my full attention. Atheists are constantly seeking proof, for they are constantly doubting their own beliefs. I say this to say, it is not impossible for one to gather evidence that supports their own beliefs. However, it is quite a daunting task for one to gather factual information instead of 'evidence' based upon ones opinion(s). A portion of Part I spoke about astrology and zodiac relations with the Bible. Well... about a month ago a new zodiac was added to the list... I wonder if that tampered with anything... Why indeed it did! Now the 12 disciplines is inequivalent to the 13 zodiac constellations. This shows how Everyone has had a moment in their lifetime where someone used their words to serve as evidence to support their own opinion that differentiated from the words of the initial speaker. Just as I believe Zeitgeist has done to the words of the Bible.
In reference to Part II of Zeitgeist, I found myself hanging on to each word that was said. This could be a result of my ignorance of the topic concerning 9/11 prior to the viewing of Part II. I was rather young when the 9/11 tragedy struck the U.S., therefore, I did not fully comprehend the extent of the matter (government wise). As I watched this section, I became more and more intrigued by the use of statements, quotes and video footage of the collapse of the towers and the explanations of the events. In contrast to my interpretation of Part I, I took all information given as true (although both parts can be seen as believable). Unfortunately, I am having a hard time convincing myself that Part II is factually correct when I believe Part I is not without my personal researched evidence. I feel as if I am being somewhat of an hypocrite because I believe one part and not another.
Although I have not seen Part III, I have seen the 'sources' from which the information has risen. As I looked upon a few of the sources, I have noticed there are books that are writen based on opinion, with few facts to boot. Hopefully, Part III will spark my interest as Part I and Part II did.
Part one of Zeitgeist was very interesting. It only reinforced my thoughts about religion. I believe that their is a higher being...I just don't know exactly who or what. I have never wanted to wrap my mind around one explanation as to who's religion is right. Zeitgeist pointed out many similarities between different religions. I found that understandable. I always believed that their was a story regarding our existence and the story was passed on from person to person, city to city, and country to country until only bits and pieces of the original story were the only facts left. This may be why Part one didn't offend me in any way whatsoever.
Zeitgeist Part two I didn't really know much about 9/11 until after seeing this. This kinda made me think that 9/ll was planned. The video seemed as if it was based on facts. I find it amazing that they try to make it seem as if there were no signs that 9/11 was coming. I also enjoy how 9/11 made people blame everything on terrorists.
Zeitgeist Part three The only part in this section that I can actually understand and remember is the section where it talks about the government not wanting us to think too much. I like how it mentions that the media is used to keep our minds entertained. Someone also mentions that the government is guiding our lives.
So far, Zeitgeist has been very interesting. The first part didn't impact me very much because I had already been through the I-don't-know-what-to-believe-in phase and then the Christianity-is-kinda-really-stupid phase after reading the DaVinci Code (I don't believe Christianity is stupid anymore though). I have a lot of other stuff to say about that but I don't wanna write it because it's too much and it's kind of scrambled.
As for the second part, I was thinking ever since the beginning of this year that America is in need of dire change. I love learning about the American Revolution and how politics and political leaders in America used to be. Like when you mentioned that Washington was a standoffish type of person, I would appreciate that kind of a president more than one who kisses babies and then washes his mouth with acid. Politics are becoming more about whose party wins through whatever means necessary. Instead of focusing on working together and fixing the problems we face today, republicans and democrats are busy fighting over offices and gaining a monopoly over each other. Maybe that's why businesses are finding it so easy to take advantage of the government and turn America into a fascist country. As for 911, I never specifically thought about the conspiracy theories behind it, but this really opened my eyes to how much the government could be hiding from us. The government is keeping us stupid to make controlling us easier and the only to fight this is to become smarter, right? So I guess instead of just focusing on getting through high school with passing grades, we should maybe trying getting something to stick in our heads, right? Hmm...
For the first part of the movie there are alot of facts that were given that were viewed me as having some truth to them. A lot of the religions do have many similar almost identical to them. This movie has reaffirmed my beliefs that over the years people have found different ways to worship the same God. I believe that religion is a spiritual journey that a person one must take by themselves privately and that their spirituality is between them and whatever God(s) that they choose to believe in. Everyone worships in their own way. Their is no way that one person can rightfully say that their religion is the right religion and all the other religions in the world are wrong. Humans have a need to find rational answers and reasons for what goes on and I believe that religion is just another one of our attempt at interpeting something that is utterly beyond our comprehension. No matter what your personal beliefs are you should remember that one persons religion and beliefs are just as real and unquestionable to them as your religion and beliefs are to you and that should always be respected. I believe in God but I do not believe that everything about the christian religion is right. Over the years there are countless times where christianity has been used by corrupt people of power in order to control a group of people, as a justification for violence, and as a way to accumulate wealth. As all things religion falls prey to human error meaning that in actuality the religion that Christians follow today possibly may not be followed as God even intended for it to be followed in the first place. This is something that can never be known for certain so I believe people should stop acting as if they do and try to live their life the best way they know how.
The third part is called "Don't Mind The Men Behind The Curtain". It is about how the Federal Reserve are controlled by high powered international bankers, and all the money in the US are loaned to the government, at interest. Bankers gain lots of money with the interest, and nothing is more profitable than war. That's why the U.S. was involved in World Wars 1, 2, and Vietnam War. The US plans on taking over Iraq, Iran, and everywhere else. There is already the North American Union, made up of Canada, Mexico, and the US.You may have not heard of it, because they don't want you to. The goverement is trying to distract you away from all this.
David: Why do you think people are reluctant to change their beliefs?
Rodolfo: I was trained by several right wing fundamentalists (pastors and teachers) from an early age. When I began to question them, they didn't have time for me anymore. In fact, they encouraged others to stay away from me.
Amber: "I can't believe that there is a possibility..." Wishful thinking.
Ruby: Question everything
Neepa: Conspiracy theory of one sided arguments? I saw two sides--The "official report" and a rebuttal to it.
Deion: Can you give specific examples to illustrate why this was an eye-opener for you?
Dominique: You make an interesting point about how the movie starts with words and no pictures and then shifts from pictures without words. I had never noticed that before--Thanks!
Mallory: Zeitgeist does ask us to question things that make us uncomfortable. I appreciate your thoughtful post!
A Tyler: How could you find out if the information presented in Zeitgeist is factual? I agree that it certainly raises some questions.
Trelvonta: Why do you say "due to the lack of credible sources"?
Kamon: Question everything, including God's need for money.
Marion: I am pleased to hear that your classmates are encouraging you to catch up-- this is a "must see." What do you mean by "No one really knows the truth until the truth proves itself to be true"?
Aaron: Why do you think evidence is scarce in this video? It seems to me that the film maker provided some empirical evidence (go look for yourself about the sunrise on the last days of December). It seems to me that you "reject" evidence in Part 1, yet appear to accept it in Part 2. Why?
Deloris: The whole point of the exercise is for you to learn to think for yourself! :-)
Sabryna: Biased and one-sided? Are you biased against George W. Bush?
Bhanu: I agree that it would be terrifying if it came out that our govt. was involved. What do you think is the "target audience" for this film?
"A myth's focus is not on the relationship to reality, but on its function. A story cannot function unless it is believed to be true in the community or nation."
Part II! Wow! I think the whole purpose of this movie is to stir up what you have been so accustomed to in life. They want you to go out of your comfort zone! They want you to question something so close to you. I mean come on, ask anyone about their religion after seeing this movie. I am so positive that weither they admit it or not they have questioned their faith. The same goes to part II. The movie wants you to question your government. They want you to go out of your comfort zone and think, Wow is this government that is supposed to be behind us, and supposed to take care of us? Are they really starting all of this bullshit and drama in the world? Did the government really stage 9/11? Did the government really kill all of those people just for their selfish needs? Did they really lure us in to another war? Are businesses gaining from our pain? This video promotes fear! In all honesty the video made me terrified. I don't want to think that the government is so intricately laced with lies, and secret plans, way beyond the comprehension of the average man. Fear...it changes people. The way we act, sleep, or think! Thats what the video wants. It wants you to be fearful. To question the truth. The more images and videos they show you, the worse it is. We as people are so guilable to believe anything these days. Just because things are in the news dosent make them true. I believe some parts of this myth, but not all. But that is exactly what they want you to think! If people dont believe, THE STORY WONT FUNCTION; as the quote said. They want their story/conspiracy to function, so they will go though any tactics to get there. Even if promoting fear is one of them.
I thought I specified it in my comment when I was talking about the Christians in our country, but I'll say it again. I believe the audience that the film was trying to target was the people in American, and since the majority of our country is Christian, they made it appeal to Christians.
Part III
I feel like it is a conspiracy theory that they are trying to set in motion, one that is probably not true. If anything, I'm sure our country would want to become a superpower, but I don't think we'll ever become a "world country". Our world is filled with so many cultural differences that it will be hard for us to ever overcome those differences, even if all of the countries in the world are conquered. A perfect example would be the Roman Empire. Despite all the countries they managed to conquer, they could never unite all of the people together to become a true empire. In order for the world to become one country, everyone would have to drop all of their beliefs and individuality. I'm sure in the future they would be able to come up with some sort of way to brain wash the people like they did in A Brave New World with soma, sex, feelies, a sick and twisted social class.
I feel that human nature would not allow a "world country" to exist though. The human nature is such that we are meant to develop in our own unique way and adjust to our environment and soak up our surroundings. This is when we are at an early age. Then as we grow up, the inner and outer battles take place as we slowly rebel against what we were taught and what we believe. Even if we are transformed into "sheep", we still have our little differences that set us apart from the population and thus we will end up building on those differences and carry our unique characteristics. We should also remember "sic transit gloria", or "glory fades"; even if such a conspiracy exists something else will take its place.
i.e. Nomads, Villages, City-States, Empires, Monarchies, Nations [where we are now?]
Part I of Zeitgeist was very different and I never seen anything like this before. It basically was talking about religion and how its a myth that people believe. When they were showing all the other religions I thought that it was cool that a lot of religions were similar in a way and I never knew that before.I remember in the beginning when a man said " I don't know who God is, But I know what he isnt" I felt that was disrespectful...but then I realized that this is another person's opinion that wants to persuade others into believing what they do.
Part II
Omg Part II I felt very emotional because I had a uncle that died on 9/11. I just wanted to cry seeing this because it brought back so many memories. I was in the second grade when this happened so I wasn't thinking about the government, all i was thinking about was how could these terrorists be so cruel. But when watching this they said that this was an inside job involving our government. This really did bother me when I heard this. Also when they said the twin towers were not suppose to collapse when multiple planes went through it made me very curious. When I saw Bush on this documentary it just made me so sick. His true colors came out when people were interviewing him and I feel that Bush took politics too personal and I also feel that was one of the many mistakes Bush made. Since I was so bothered I talked to my parents about this. They told me since this tragedy happened they were always going to be different sides of the story. Negative comments were always going to be said about Muslims , Americans and even the government. My mom brought up religion and made me realize how Part I and II are similar in a way. While watching both it made me stop and think about religion and US government.
Part III
In this part they were saying that people get information from television rather then getting it from the newspapers or from books. I am a product of getting my information from watching television so I would have to agree.
Zeitgeist--Part 2 After watching part 2, my perspective of out country's government has changed. I thought that would could trust our government and that every action that was performed was to help us, or benefit us now or in the long run. Of course, no one is sure whether all the information in the video is true. However, with what they have presented to us--such as Bush having certain connections with our country's "enemies" and the planned attack on 911--I think our governemnt needs to inform the people of the truth, if they are not already. How can any government expect their society and populaton to cooperate with them, if they do not have trust from their people? I think it's ridiculous that our government would put people in the most drastic and uncessary situations. Are they trying to prove a point? What are they doing exactly? All I know is, killing innocent people who committ to your rules of society is not a solution to anything!
Zeitgeist--Part 3 This part discussed our government and money. This biggest thing that stuck out to me the most was the statement about income tax. Is it really unconstitutoinal? Why do we pay it? They said the money is used to basically pay back what was spent to provide money. If the country is not telling us what are money is going to or paying for, then how can we trust the government; a point I made in the review of part 2.
This part wasn't as interesting or appealing to me. I could get into the 2nd part because it dealt with things I knew about involving 9/11, but part 3 deals a lot with money. Money interest me, but since I don't pay taxes or really understand all the things grown ups or my parents do, I don't really have many things to say. I did like how they were saying that income tax was unconstitutional. My mom told me about a famous lawyer who believes that to be true. In a way I think we should fight for it since its unconstitutional, but it is also showing that people don't really have as much say as they think they do in the government. I thought it was ironic that we are paying the government money to pay off debt, which in turn is creating more debt. That made me think about the debt reader thing on the internet that is constantly going up. Another thing I thought was interesting was the concept of implanting chips in people. A lot of the class had comments on this, issues of privacy, and blah, blah, blah! I think it would be a good idea. Some parents are doing this to their kids as a mean of tracking. Say if you get kidnapped, how awesome would it be if they could find you instantly because of that chip? Others may complain. But if you think about it, most of us carry cell phones, they give off signals, and can be tracked. We are basically carrying a chip around with us, just outside of our body. The concept of Big Brother has been introduced very early on by George Orwell in his book "1984" He predicted that later on all the world would be under surveillance. This is true! Schools, Malls, Stop Lights, Public Facilities, etc..just about everything today has cameras. Even if you don't want to believe it, someone is always watching you, so what harm could a little chip do? Overall Part I through III have really made me look at things from a different angle. I'm looking forward to more videos we will watch!
Zeitgeist part three was the killer of all three parts. This kind of destroyed all their other arguments because their ideas were starting to sound a little unreal. THey started making the world seem like it was going to turn into some sort of skynet type thing, and thats just things you would see in movies. This 3rd part ruined any belief in the first 2 parts. They should try the 3rd part again and pitch the ideas some other way because it definately wasn't convincing.
I enjoyed the Zeitgeist part 1 through 3. I like when people try to challenge major religions or things that many people believe to be fact. Part one for me was very interesting because growing up as a christian, i was never really taught about other religions. But all of the similarities pointed out in the movie just kind of reassured me on something i kind of always thought. Maybe there are no differences in religions but, in reality there is only one religion but many people just wrongly believe that there are different kinds. Part 2 for me really made me ask my self questions. As an American i just believed whatever the news and the government said, while forgetting that our government is known for honesty. After looking back at all of the different blunders and cover ups by the bush administration, now its hard for me to just accept the government stated facts. In the movie it talked about how either the Secret service or the CIA after 911 quickly went around and took all footage of the plane hitting the pentagon. Also that for the pilots to hit the pentagon the way that they did they had to be almost expert fliers, which they weren't. That too me seemed very strange. Part three was the culminating event of why i don't fully trust our government. To me it seems like our country is heading towards sky-net like in the terminator. Yet even after seeing all the different things they mentioned, I am not fully sold on all of the ideas they presented or facts about big banks and our government. It sounded nice but it wasn't as convincing to me as the other 2 parts.
Sorry Mr. Harris. Kinda got side-tracked and forgot to post a message about parts two and three. So here goes.
Part two was very interesting. It brings up a lot of questions about just what our national government is keeping from us. It brings further into the light the question about just what did our leaders do that they don't want us to know: beneficial to us or not. Ultimately, I have to agree with the evidence presented in this part that something was definitely up. For me, the deciding factor was the thermite cuts on the twin towers. A plane simply couldn't do that...
Part three... Really? The income tax is unconstitutional? I would love to see more research into determining exactly how unconstitutional it really is... And again we return to the same question... Just what else is our government keeping from us...
(Oh, and I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to countering Eddie's argument yet. Just want to say one thing on the subject: the sources are there in the companion guide for the video. And un más, all religions have variations, even Christianity. So just because one version of the birth of Horus says he had a virgin mother doesn't mean another version doesn't say he had one. I do believe that's a fallacy: leaving information out that would weaken one's argument.)
Part three of Zeitgiest was probably the scariest for me because of how much power it put into a few hands. After reading novels like A Brave New World it makes things like social control seem more plausible. Already using the media, TV, and even school, somebody is affecting the way we think and the way we behave. But, there are always those people who preserve their own opinion amidst the Bieber fans and vampire lovers (not that all fans are simply giving into trends). My only hope is that instead of accepting the way everything is being given to us, we try to get up and take a stand for something that we don't believe in. Or just dislike!
Part II of Zeitgeist was very eye-opening. I had never before really questioned was the news media had been telling me about 9/11. Personally I was never really too sad over what happened and I never thought that we should have gone to war over that. But I find it completely reasonable that our own government organized this "event" to scare us into going across seas. The America we're living in now is a product of there propaganda campaign and now millions of people in our own country have feed into the idea of protecting our nation from foreign threats. I assure you that all credible threats to America are internal. Part II really opened my eyes to some of the lies that we have been told.
Part III was definately the most surprising. To learn about all of the financially unethical things going on in our country was like a big slap in the face. I definately didn't realize that this was going on and I'm sure that 99% of the American people have no idea what's going on. Why would they? There are so many distractions nowadays from television, music, sports etc. that no one realizes our very freedoms are being taken away. A few greedy men rule the world and live like gods while the rest of us have to fight for the scraps. If anything in this video is true then the very human race is at stake of being enslaved. Because the real slavery isn't to the plantation owner anymore. We are becoming slaves to banks and large institutions. We need a revolution, badly.
ReplyDeleteI found the movie an interesting contradiction.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was watching this movie, it reminded me a lot about the time I was reading The DaVinci Code.
ReplyDeleteOne other thing I learned is religious tolerance.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the film, it really challenged my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am not a religious person at ALL.
ReplyDeleteSide Note: Some people may still rely on God or a god to get them through the tough days.

ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed the movie.
ReplyDeleteIn part one of Zeitgeist, I'm not exactly sure what the message of the video is, but after discussing it with a few of my classmates, we have concluded that the video basically conveyed that God doesn't exist.

ReplyDeleteWell the movie Zeitgeist it really made me think about all that i have been told in life.
ReplyDeleteThe 9/11.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Mallory and I find the little God cartoon with him in the sky a little too much.
I truly enjoy reading your posts!
ReplyDelete@Scipio AKA Charles: I look forward to your posts!
ReplyDelete@Davina: I really appreciated your comment about different viewpoints!
ReplyDelete@Deloris: "Show me proof, that is all I ask." How does that statement fit with the notion of faith?
ReplyDeleteWhen you read my questions to you, visualize (or hear) the way I would ask you that in class.
ReplyDeleteI found the first and second parts of the Zeitgeist very interesting. They reall showed me some information that I had not previously been aware of.
ReplyDeleteThe first part really intrested me on the basis of christianity.

ReplyDeleteNow Part II of the Zeitgeist is what REALLY got me thinking...
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I never really questioned what was reported on the news.
ReplyDeletePart 2: This part about 9/11 really had me thinking, and it also made me question our government.
ReplyDeletePart I
ReplyDeleteThis part really made me think because it took shots at my religion. This video was basically saying that religion were created to manipulate people. This opened my eyes to another point of view and i questioned alot of thing after seeing this.
Part II
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
This was my favorite part. This basically revealed the secretness of our government. This was very enlighting because it made me question every disaster that the US has had. this part made me look at the way media twist the story rather than fall into the trap of percieving it as its presented.
Part 1
ReplyDeleteWell, this part of the video was interesting because I learned things I previously had no knowledge of.
~Domi J~
Part II:
ReplyDeleteI was more effected by part two of the movie than the prior part.
Part 1
ReplyDeletezeitgeist the movie was very interesting to me.
Part 2
This part of the movie was very interesting to me.
ReplyDeletePart 2 was even more interesting than part 1.
Response to part I:
ReplyDeleteAs i am not a very religious person most of the ideas in the video are thoughts i also wonder about. yes, i go to church every Sunday and all of that i just cant seem to relate all the time.
ReplyDeletePart Two really "wowed" me.
Part 1:
ReplyDeletePart 1 was the weakest and least evidential of the whole documentary.
Part 2:
ReplyDeleteAfter watching Part 2 of Zeitgest, I definitely know that someone in the government had some involvement with 9/11.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that i realized, that these movies are biased and one sided. so the information that is presented to you, is from one side, of many sides.
ReplyDeleteZeigeist 1: This part dealt with religion.
@JimHarris
ReplyDeleteYou asked me why I believe they focused on Christianity?
ReplyDeleteAfter watching part two of the zeigeist series, it did seems as if 9/11 was a setup.
ReplyDeleteAtheists are constantly seeking proof, for they are constantly doubting their own beliefs. This shows how
Everyone has had a moment in their lifetime where someone used their words to serve as evidence to support their own opinion that differentiated from the words of the initial speaker.
ReplyDeleteZeitgeist Part two
I didn't really know much about 9/11 until after seeing this. This kinda made me think that 9/ll was planned. The video seemed as if it was based on facts. I find it amazing that they try to make it seem as if there were no signs that 9/11 was coming. I also enjoy how 9/11 made people blame everything on terrorists.
Zeitgeist Part three
The only part in this section that I can actually understand and remember is the section where it talks about the government not wanting us to think too much.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second part, I was thinking ever since the beginning of this year that America is in need of dire change.
ReplyDeleteThe third part is called "Don't Mind The Men Behind The Curtain".
ReplyDeleteDavid: Why do you think people are reluctant to change their beliefs?
ReplyDeleteRodolfo: I was trained by several right wing fundamentalists (pastors and teachers) from an early age.
ReplyDeleteMallory: Zeitgeist does ask us to question things that make us uncomfortable.
Why?
ReplyDeleteDeloris: The whole point of the exercise is for you to learn to think for yourself! :-)
Sabryna: Biased and one-sided? Are you biased against George W. Bush?
Bhanu: I agree that it would be terrifying if it came out that our govt. was involved. What do you think is the "target audience" for this film?
Part 2:
ReplyDelete"A myth's focus is not on the relationship to reality, but on its function.
@JimHarris
ReplyDeleteI thought I specified it in my comment when I was talking about the Christians in our country, but I'll say it again.
Part I
ReplyDeletePart I of Zeitgeist was very different and I never seen anything like this before.
Zeitgeist--Part 2
ReplyDeleteAfter watching part 2, my perspective of out country's government has changed.
Zeitgeist--Part 3
ReplyDeleteThis part discussed our government and money.
Part III
ReplyDeleteThis part wasn't as interesting or appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Zeitgeist part 1 through 3.
ReplyDeletePart 2 for me really made me ask my self questions.
ReplyDeletePart two was very interesting.
ReplyDeletePart II of Zeitgeist was very eye-opening.
ReplyDeletePart III was definately the most surprising.
